What's the difference between re-refined and synthetic oil?

Re-refined oil is recycled motor oil that's been cleaned and reprocessed to meet the same specifications as new oil. Synthetic oil is engineered for maximum performance. Both protect your engine effectively — we offer both.

How do I know I need an oil change?

The most reliable signal is your odometer or your car's oil-life monitor — most modern vehicles do the math for you. Outside that, watch for a darker, gritty dipstick reading, an oil-pressure or maintenance light, ticking from the top of the engine on cold starts, or a burnt smell. If you can't remember when you last had it done, you're probably due.

Why is my oil change due so much sooner than the sticker says?

Stickers are usually based on mileage alone, but oil-life monitors factor in driving conditions — short trips, stop-and-go, towing, and Portland's hilly terrain all shorten the interval. Trust the car's monitor over the sticker. We reset the monitor at every service so you're always starting from a clean baseline.

Do you check anything besides the oil during a service?

Yes — every oil change includes a multi-point inspection. We check tire tread and pressure, brake wear, belts and hoses, all fluid levels, battery condition, lights, and wipers. If something needs attention we show you what we found and walk you through your options. No surprise add-ons in the bay.

Every Green Drop oil change uses an OEM-grade filter and either re-refined or full synthetic oil — your choice. We drain the old oil into our closed-loop recycling system, check your tire pressures, reset the TPMS and oil-life indicator, and give you a written multi-point inspection before you drive off.
