Our Diagnostic Approach
Most diagnostic failures come from shortcuts: clearing a code without verifying the root cause, replacing the part a forum post suggested, or missing a secondary fault because a single scan didn't look beyond the primary code.
Our approach is slower up front and faster overall. We scan the full OBD-II system plus manufacturer-specific modules (engine, transmission, ABS, SRS, body control, HVAC, emissions). We inspect live data streams — fuel trims, sensor voltages, misfire counters, transmission adaptation — not just stored codes. We check wiring, connectors, and grounds, because those are often the real story behind a flaky sensor.
Then we write it up. You get a report that says what we found, what we ruled out, and what it'll cost to repair — before any repair work starts.

Systems We Scan
Engine and Powertrain
Check engine lights, misfires, rough idle, stalling, loss of power, poor fuel economy, failed emissions. We read engine control module codes, log fuel trim and O2 sensor data, and test injection and ignition components.
Transmission
Harsh shifts, slipping gears, torque converter shudder, limp mode, transmission temperature warnings. We scan transmission control module codes, check adaptation data, and inspect fluid condition.
ABS, Traction, and Stability
ABS warning lights, traction control faults, stability control off. We identify wheel speed sensor failures, module issues, and hydraulic unit faults.
SRS (Airbag) and Electrical
Airbag warning lights, seatbelt tensioner faults, module communication errors. We scan safety systems, body control modules, and CAN bus communication for intermittent faults.
Emissions and EVAP
DEQ fails, EVAP leak codes, catalytic converter efficiency codes. Oregon DEQ-adjacent work — we get you fixed and passing on the next visit.
